It is not only the Portuguese who are proud of the Pride of Madeira (Echium candicans), but everyone who has this outstanding plant at home on the terrace or in the conservatory. In late spring and early summer, the huge pale blue flower candles up to 30 cm long are highly attractive, as is the gray, hairy foliage and candelabra-like growth habit.
