The edible passion fruit vine (Passiflora edulis) is a vigorous climber with exotic looking white-purple flowers. Harvest the egg-shaped purple fruits and make your own tasty juice.
Passiflora edulis (Passion Fruit) has large, purple-skinned fruits that contain the well-known passion fruit juice. About 7 cm in size, its passion fruits have a roundish to oblong-oval shape and the typical triangular arrangement of fruit pulp when cut in the middle. The aromatic fruit pulp has a strong, yellow-orange-green color, making it very popular for decorating ice cream or refining fruity sauces. For harvesting many fruits, it is best to grow two plants, because pollen from the same plant does not always match their own flowers. As soon as the stigmas bend down and become sticky after the flower has opened, you can also transfer the pollen with a brush to increase the yield. Quality: large purple fruits with yellow peel; exotic flowers; vigorous climber
Use: in pots from May/September outside on balcony, terrace or patio with overwintering indoors - better harvest if planted all year round in a heated conservatory
