Description

It is almost not possible to imagine a spice rack without the unique, spicy scent of dried cinnamon bark. The aroma is mainly contained in the reddish bark of the Cinnamon tree (Cinnamonmum zeylanicum, Cinnamomum verum). For harvesting it, the bark is removed from cut off branches. The dark green leaves contain essential oils and are used as a spice in all tropical regions of the world. Young leaves have a pink hue at emergence. The first harvest can already begin with a small plant when Cinnamon grows even more bushy. The small, yellow flowers and subsequent fruits are quite rare in our country. These tropical plants of the laurel family need warm and humid conditions throughout the year.
