Thunbergia grandiflora - Blue Trumpet Vine, Blue Sky Vine, Scrambling Sky Flower
The Blue Sky Vine (Thunbergia grandiflora) is a brilliant plant and lives up to its reputation with racemes of sky-blue flowers throughout the summer.
One could hardly describe the flowers of this long-life plant better than by the name ‘Blue Sky Vine’. With up to 4 cm in diameter they present themselves in midsummer in dense clusters and a clear light blue - a heavenly treat not only for fans of blue flowers. With a constant supply of water and fertilizer, the twining shoots increase in length every summer to serve as screens or grow into specimen plants on trellises. However, they can also be shortened at any time and even be pruned radically in late winter. Since Blue Trumpet Vine loves warmth, a permanent place in the conservatory is just as suitable as a sheltered place on the balcony or terrace from May/June.
Quality: popular blue flower color; profuse and long flowering; vigorous climber
Use: from May outdoors in containers on balcony, terrace - during winter in a winter quarter or winter garden; all year round in a heated conservatory
