Ceratonia siliqua XXL - St. John's Bread Carob, Carob Tree, Locust Bean

Carob Trees (Ceratonia siliqua) are already mentioned in the bible. They are evergreen shade-giving trees with long pods containing sweet, edible pulp, which can be ground to produce carob flour. The seeds of the Carob Tree were used as a standard for defining the carat of gemstones.
