Quantity

The Bitter Orange ‘Consolei’ (Citrus aurantium 'Consolei') has been known in Europe since the 16th century, also known as ‘Canaliculata’, ‘Incanelati’ or ‘Striatum’. Its crown is compact and without thorns, the leaves are somewhat rounder than those of other Bitter Orange varieties. With 3 to 3.5 cm in diameter, the white, sweetly fragrant flowers are larger than those of other varieties. The flowers are usually lined up along the branches. The fruits are 3-5 cm large and have a distinctive orange colored peel with ridges that run parallel from the fruit base to its end. These ridges give the fruits a wrinkled look. Healthy plants provide an annual rich harvest. The juice and the peel can be used for making jam and as a spice in cooking.
