Description

The slender columns of the Mediterranean Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens) rise into the sky like rockets. In Tuscany, they border alleys, accentuate hill tops and characterize the landscape. In our country, you can plant them into the garden, because from their home country these evergreen trees are used to a good portion of cold and snow. For successful growing they require well draining, loose soil, protection from the sun in winter and at the same time sufficient soil moisture. Planted in pots, Mediterranean Cypresses can also be used to set architectural accents around the house. They bring a touch of Italian flair to any sunny terrace, line the path to the house or stylishly round off the garden pond. Mediterranean Cypresses in pots remain particularly slender and compact thanks to an annual topiary in March and August. They are among the first to be allowed outdoors in spring and among the last to have to be brought indoors in fall, thus giving you a long season 'a la Italia'. In a greenhouse or conservatory, Mediterranean Cypress will grow into slender columns and make good partners for large olive trees, fig trees and other Mediterranean classics that all require a cool temperature in the winter quarter.

punkt_gruen.gif Quality: typical Mediterranean plant with slender columnar growth; resin like fragrance in summer; evergreen; easy to care for

punkt_gruen.gif Use: in pots from March/April to October/November outside on balcony, terrace and in the garden; during winter indoors; all year round in an unheated greenhouse or conservatory (with pruning); planted in the garden (with sun protection)
