The Firecracker Plant offers many different possible uses. On the one hand, it is an evergreen trailing plant cultivated in a pot and hanging from columns or pedestals, sprawling over borders and walls in a greenhouse or that grows as ground-cover in a sunny spot. On the other hand, as it gets older, it grows up to a bushy solitary plant with shoots growing upright as well as overhanging or that can be tied to a trellis. The leaves are slender like Common Horsetail and the flowers slim and tubular like a small Fuchsia in a red or yellowish-white dress. As a whole, they give a cascade-like or firework-like look to the plant that might be the origin of its common name.
