The sturdy cums which shine golden yellow in the sun and the pale green leaves make the Golden Bamboo (Phyllostachys aurea) a popular choice. When planted out in the garden, it reaches over 5m, while in pots, which can be kept outdoors all year round (water in winter!), it remains considerably smaller.
