Description

The Indigo Bush (Indigofera heterantha) is closely related to Indigo tinctoria from which in earlier times the leaves were used for producing blue dye. The Indigo Bush grows as an unformal, app. head-high shrub with fine, bluish pinnate leaves. All through the summer it shows many pink butterfly-shaped flowers for many weeks in June and July. As a pot plant this deciduous shrub can be wintered in a semi-dark quarter. Planted in the garden in a sunny spot on well draining soil they are reliably hardy.
